April’s Fool 2012

High Wycombe sign April 1st, 2012

There’s been nothing foolish about today in our neck of woods. The weather has been nearly perfect – sunny, bright, dry, a bit on the fresh side though for some, but lovely in the sunshine.

Good news for High Wycombe as well – we are going to get Hollywood style signs on both sides of High Wycombe (see photo) woo hoo!! Well, obviously we will have to “erect” Beverley Hills type … well, hills, on both sides of High Wycombe first, but nevertheless woo hoo!!!

Seriously though, we’ve had a great day out this Sunday. First, we visited the Marlow Country Fayre (it is held in Marlow Dean Street car park every first Sunday of the month) with a few stalls with locally made breads, cheeses, cupcakes, desserts, meat, eggs and sausages. We tasted some and bought some (the goat’s cheese cheesecake was delish!) There were a couple of jewellery and gifts stalls as well. Off to the Burgers of Marlow after that for some coffee and cake and then to the park to its playground, bouncy castle, merry-go-round, ice-cream and of course a walk along the river – wonderful! We saw two ducks building a nest near the bank. I also noticed some pots with rosemary, parsley, chives and dill growing in them on a deck of one boat. How lovely, I thought, catch the fish and “herb” it right there and then – what a brilliant idea!

After that we did a quick dash to Marlow Crown Plaza to the Spring Festival with a free bouncy castle AND free face painting (see the photo of a happy bunny) – such an unexpected delight for our 5 year old, who said she had the best time ever! Parents’ job well done, me thinks!
