Tamiya 1/48th scale F-16

Tamiya 1/48th scale F-16

1.     The Tamiya 1/48th F-16. It is seen here it the colours of a Dutch wing but this was its second incarnation. The Tamiya kit was of an early pre-production model and not a true F-16A. However, it was close enough for me. The decals will be from Modeldecal and it will have been airbrushed with Humbrol enamels. Funnily enough I don't recall how I originally finished this model. The weapons are from a Hasegawa Weapons set. A disaster struck this kit during the final painting stages. To speed up the drying I put it near a fan heater which melted one wing and part of a underside strake. This wrote-off one of the wing sidewinder launch rails and left me in despair. However, as you can see, a repair was effected.

2.     I filled some heat damage with Milliput.3.     The underside strake was replaced by plastic card whilst a new sidewinder launch rail came from the spares box.4.     Victory was snatched from defeat and I finally finished it. However, it would never be as good....5.     I finally had my revenge by completing a 'proper' Hasegawa F-16A visible in Gallery 2000 on this web site.
