Matchbox 1/72nd scale Phantom FGR.2 
1. The Matchbox 1/72nd scale Phantom FGR.2 depicts the Spey Engined Phantom flown by the RAF. The Kit was released as an FGR.1 version but it only needed the squaring off of the tail fin to turn it into an FGR.2. Decals are by Modeldecal. The Squadron is the 'Firebirds' (56 Sqn?) who were stationed at RAF Wattisham during the 1970's, 80's and early 90's prior to retirement. The photo above shows the original Matchbox Ladders in place. The photo's below show the replacement PPAeroparts Ladders assembled from Photoetch - they looked a lot better. The rest of the kit was assembled without any help from aftermarket parts as is evidence in the cockpit area which is straight from the box and pretty miserable to-boot. |
